In a landmark alliance set to transform the future of clean aviation in Asia and beyond, Bin Zayed International Group (BZI) and FatHopes Energy (FHE) have announced a strategic partnership for one of the world’s most forward-looking Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) refineries in Port Klang, Malaysia.
Combining BZI’s global investment acumen with FHE’s leadership in sustainable biofuel feedstock aggregation, the partnership lays the groundwork for an integrated SAF production facility, one of the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and among the most robust globally.
This initiative has the potential to reimagine the future of flight. At full capacity, the Port Klang facility will produce significant volumes of SAF via the HEFA pathway, which currently supplies over 80% of global SAF. Backed by BZI, FHE will also explore advanced SAF technologies alongside its refining partner and technology provider, making this project one of the most diversified, scalable, and climate-aligned SAF platforms in the region.
The collaboration is expected to catalyse Malaysia’s broader ambition to produce one million tonnes of SAF annually, anchoring the nation as a central player in the global SAF economy.
The announcement was made at a special event in Kuala Lumpur, attended by H.H. Sheikh Khaled Zayed Saquer Zayed Alnahyan, Chairman of Bin Zayed International; H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Khaled Zayed Saquer Alnehayan, CEO of BZI DMCC; H.E. Sheikh Midhat Kidwai, Group MD of BZI; Dato’ Sri Dr. Shamir Kumar Nandy, MD of BZI Malaysia and ED of BZ Singapore; Vinesh Sinha, CEO of FHE; and Dato’ Eddy Leong, COO of FHE.
