The 3rd Asia New Vision Forum (ANVF) 2025 concluded successfully in Singapore last week. Centred on the theme “Asian Opportunities in an Era of Change,” the forum brought together over 600 government representatives, heads of international organisations, renowned scholars, and business leaders from more than 12 countries to discuss Asia’s positioning and prospects in the evolving global economic landscape. Mr Charles Junyi Hou, Vice President of J&T Express Group, was invited to attend, sharing J&T Express’ strategic approach and practical experience in driving internationalisation and digital transformation.
Since its founding in Indonesia in 2015, J&T Express has pursued growth through its core strategy of “globalisation through localisation.” Growing rapidly from Southeast Asia and successfully expanding into 13 countries worldwide, J&T Express has become a textbook example of how emerging market enterprises expand globally. The company now handles more than 80 million parcels daily, with peak volumes exceeding 100 million. Its rapid development not only reflects the close alignment between corporate strategy and regional economic opportunities but also underscores the critical role of digitalisation in enabling global synergy.
At the forum, Mr Hou emphasised that J&T Express’s international expansion is not a matter of business replication or “top-down disruption,” but a process of deep localisation—embedding into local social structures, consumer habits, and infrastructure. In Indonesia, J&T Express has navigated the geographical complexities of the archipelagic nation by building a diverse and flexible transportation system. Similarly in Brazil, it has built a logistics network that could balance the challenges of the vast Amazon rainforest with the demands of dense urban clusters. This dynamic and agile operating model has enabled J&T Express to establish a firm foothold in multiple markets and gradually build a global network that now spans Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
J&T Express has also taken a forward-looking approach to developing a unified digital platform to power its logistics operations. By deploying innovations such as courier artificial intelligence (AI) assistants, real-time multilingual translation, AI-powered knowledge bases, and automated meeting-management systems, the company was able to achieve more efficient collaboration across its global presence and successfully implemented a “one voice” global management philosophy. This approach now serves as a digital roadmap for other enterprises seeking international expansion.
Looking ahead, Mr Hou noted that Asia is becoming a key driver of both the global e-commerce and digital economy. J&T Express will continue to invest in technological innovations such as automated sorting, dynamic digital mapping (such as areas of interest mapping), and other AI applications, while fostering close cooperation with government agencies and industry partners to accelerate Asia’s sustainable progress and development.
The Asia New Vision Forum 2025, organised by Caixin Media with strategic support from the Singapore government, has become one of the leading overseas forums hosted by a Chinese institution. Now in its third edition, the event is gradually establishing itself as an influential international exchange platform within the region. By combining diverse perspectives from global, Asia, and Chinese stakeholders, the forum serves as a key platform to foster dialogue, shape global agendas and cultivate a deeper understanding of Asia and China within the international community.
