The Hongkong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics (HAFFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Vietnam International Institute of Logistics & Supply Chain (IILS), which aims to establish a framework for cooperation to promote and strengthen the development of the freight and logistics industry between Hong Kong and Vietnam.
HAFFA Chairman Mr. Gary Lau and Vice Chairlady Ms. Janet Ng were invited by The STAT Trade Times to attend the Global Event Logistics Summit (GELS) on 28 – 29 May 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. Ms. Ng was further invited to deliver a keynote speech at the Summit. GELS is a gathering place for leading figures in the logistics industry worldwide. It is not only an international logistics conference, but also a platform for interaction with carriers and freight forwarders. Participants can explore behind-the-scenes logistics strategies, equipment and teamwork models to ensure challenges are effectively addressed. At the same time, attendees can establish cross-border connections with carriers, freight forwarders and shippers, collectively shaping the future of premium event logistics.
On 28 May 2026, Mr. Lau signed the MOU with Dr. Le Van Hy, President of Vietnam IILS, witnessed by Mr. Bradford Lee, Associate Director, Merchandise Trade and Innovation, Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Following the signing, Mr. Lau and Ms. Ng held discussions with IILS delegates, with the aim of building and strengthening partnership ties.
Commented HAFFA Chairman Mr. Lau: “HAFFA is delighted to announce our collaboration with Vietnam IILS, and we look forward to more opportunities for cooperation in the future. We have been working to enhance coordination in logistics and transportation to increase cargo flow—shortening transit and logistics times, reducing costs and improving service quality. Our goal is to showcase the cohesion and competitiveness of Asia’s logistics industry on the international stage. At the same time, we look forward to expanding information exchange with Vietnam IILS, maintaining close cooperation and striving to achieve our shared objectives.”
The MOU covers several areas, including bilateral trade development, international multimodal transport corridors and coordinated problem-solving. It also emphasises consultation and information exchange, experience sharing, and training initiatives.
HAFFA believes that through cooperation with Vietnam IILS, more opportunities will be created for Members and the industry, further advancing in-depth exchanges and development in the fields of logistics and supply chain between Hong Kong and Vietnam.
