Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has enhanced its intra-Asia network with a new dedicated, non-stop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia, strengthening inbound trade connectivity into Australia from key markets across Asia.
Operating five times weekly with Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, the new routing is expected to deliver up to one day faster transit times for select shipments originating from major Asian markets, reaching Australia in as little as two business days. These markets include Southern Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Unlocking faster growth for Asian and Australian businesses
Designed to support Asian exporters, customers from Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Greater China benefit from more direct and reliable access into Australia, supporting industries reliant on time-sensitive and high-value shipments. The new connection enables businesses across the region to:
- Improve supply chain efficiency through improved speed-to-market and reduced inventory holding costs.
- Increase capacity for heavy-weight freight and high-value goods.
- Support B2B growth in time-sensitive and high-value sectors.
“In today’s environment of shifting supply chains and rising customer expectations, competitive advantage is defined by the strength and reliability of our network. This enhancement reinforces the depth of our intra-Asia connectivity, enabling customers to access key markets like Australia faster, operate with greater agility and capture more growth opportunities with confidence,” said Salil Chari, president, Asia Pacific, FedEx. “It also supports more resilient supply chains that underpin long-term, sustainable business growth.”
Powering the Intra-Asia corridor’s growth momentum
With intra-Asia trade posting a double-digit year-on-year revenue increase in 2025, the region continues to be a key engine of global growth. As companies reconfigure supply chains to be faster, more regional, and more resilient, seamless air connectivity across Asia has become critical. The company’s direct connection through the FedEx Guangzhou Hub strengthens this backbone, supporting high-velocity trade and reinforcing Asia’s role as a central driver of global commerce.
This service forms part of the company’s ongoing investments in strengthening connectivity that include dedicated nonstop Guangzhou–Penang cargo flights, additional weekly freighters between Guangzhou and Bangkok, and an enhanced outbound connection from Hanoi to South Korea. These enhancements help businesses across the region tap into growing trade flows and expand into new markets
