“Rock-It’s experience and reach will really add to the options available to our operations staff ,” said Fritz Dietl, CEO of Dietl. “Their scale can help us provide unique solutions which will benefit our partner agents and clients. As an example, last December we partnered with Rock-It Cargo to charter an entire B747 freighter to ship artwork from the Art Basel Miami Beach show back to Europe. We were able to return all shipments to their final destination within one week of the closing of the fair during the busiest shipping period of the year and at reasonable rates.”
In a statement, Rock-It said Dietl would operate as an independent division and continue its service to its agents and clientele of collectors, galleries, auction houses and museums. “Dietl clients will now benefit from additional resources such as pre-screening of cargo, access to more chartered aircraft, specialised equipment and locations, as well as a significantly expanded personnel base.”
The statement added that Dietl would absorb and manage Rock-It’s existing operations agents which were already working in the fine arts industry. Dietl’s offices in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles would continue to operate as Dietl International Services.
