Last Saturday a B737-400 freighter operated by Trigana suffered runway excursion during an emergency landing at Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport.

The aircraft, registered PK-YSF, was slated to fly cargo to Makassar (Indonesia) with four crew members. According to The Aviation Herald, was climbing out of runway 24 at 10:53 local time (03:53) when the crew stopped the climb at about 3,000 feet due to problems with the right hand main gear.

The crew entered a hold whilst attempting to correct the problem and subsequently turned around the aircraft for a landing on runway 24 at about 11:28 local time, around 35 minutes after departure, the report read.

Upon landing the aircraft skidded on the runway on the left main gear, nose gear and right engine pod. It then veered right off the runway and came to a stop on the grass with all gear collapsed.

There were no injuries, but the aircraft sustained substantial damage.

The runway excursion incident happened a few days after J&T Express announced the purchase of its first aircraft from Trigana Air.

According to aviation safety analyst JACDEC Database, the airline operator, with an average fleet age of 29.3 years, has suffered its 13th aircraft hull loss (including PK-YSF) and 3rd 737 hull loss. It has recorded 81 fatalities in its 30 years of operations.
