Scan Global Logistics (SGL) recently hosted its Sustainability Forum 2024, titled “Race to Zero Emission,” for the first time in Asia. Gathering over 100 industry leaders, government representatives, and sustainability experts, the event centered around the theme ‘Driving Sustainable Solutions Together’ and served as a collaborative platform to share innovative approaches toward a carbon-neutral future.
The forum underscored SGL’s commitment for decarbonising logistics, with a focus on practical pathways for reducing carbon emissions in the supply chain and beyond. Commenting on the event’s impact, the Regional CEO of Asia at SGL Rickard Ingvarsson remarked, ‘Our goal is to be a catalyst – raising awareness, engaging a wide range of stakeholders, from government officials to institutions, carriers, shippers, and, of course, ourselves. We’re committed to simplifying the journey toward sustainable supply chains, making this transformation as practical and accessible as possible. But we must also acknowledge the reality: achieving this vision requires a meaningful investment of time, resources, and, yes, likely financial commitment.’
Sheng-Ann Yu, Director Advanced Technology Group Asia-Pacific at Ericsson, contributed to the discussions on driving systemic change in the supply chain. She said, “Sustainability is an essential responsibility that requires collective effort and innovation. Ericsson is working to become Net Zero across its entire value chain by 2040 and continues to decarbonize industries and society globally through ICT solutions. We target to have 350 high-emitting and strategic suppliers set their own 1.5 °C-aligned emissions reduction targets by 2025. Events like this forum provide valuable opportunities to exchange insights and work together toward practical solutions and innovation for a sustainable future.”
Martin Andersen, Global Head of Sustainability at SGL, further highlighted SGL’s role, adding, “Our goal is to drive action by transforming sustainability strategies into practical solutions. We offer the tools to support companies in decarbonising transportation emissions and collaborate to scale CO2 reduction efforts. This forum focuses on raising awareness, bringing industry voices together, and collaboratively making sustainability a reality in the Asia region.”
The event featured notable speakers, including one from Allan Jensen, General Manager Malaysia, Head of SEA-North, Danfoss, who shared insights on Danfoss’s innovative decarbonisation strategies. Reflecting on the event, he said, “Through innovation and collaboration, Danfoss is making sustainable solutions accessible and impactful. This forum demonstrates the power of shared vision and action in advancing our collective sustainability goals.”
