AMERICAS: Boeing finds new problem in 787
Boeing has halted production of 787 Dreamliner fuselage sections at the Alenia Aeronautica, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica, factory in Italy after new flaws were found in the aircraft’s lightweight carbon composite fuselage. Boeing found microscopic wrinkles in the skin of the 787’s fuselage and ordered its Italian supplier to stop making sections on June 23, a Boeing spokesperson said this week. Air Berlin shelves plan to sell Liesure Cargo
Air Berlin, Europe’s third-largest discount carrier said it has shelved plans to sell its standalone cargo unit - Leisure Cargo - after failing to attract a bid that matched the company’s own valuation and said it is reviewing an order for Boeing’s 787s.
