Air Berlin, Etihad in German codeshare ruling victory

Air Berlin and parent Etihad Airways have won an appeal against a Braunschweig administrative court ruling in Germany issued late last month which required them to cease codesharing on thirty-one routes beyond 15 January. Reports of new Fiji Airways CEO dismissed

Fiji Airways has denied reports that the former SriLankan Airlines CEO Peter Hill has been appointed as the chief executive of Fiji's national carrier. According to a report by UK tabloid the Daily Mirror, SriLankan Airlines chairman Ajith Dias was quoted as saying Hill was leaving because he was offered the Fiji Airways managing director and CEO role. Revived Alitalia sees new focus on Asia

Alitalia is planning to launch a series of new routes to Asia as part of its restructuring plan including Rome-Beijing, Rome-Seoul, Milan-Shanghai and additional Milan-Tokyo flights. Oman Air appoints former Air Berlin exec as new CEO

Government-owned Oman Air has appointed Paul Gregorowitsch as its new chief executive officer replacing Wayne Pearce, who left the company after serving more than two years as the CEO. Prior to joining Oman Air, Gregorowitsch was a management board member at Air Berlin and was tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the German carrier’s commercial activities. Air Berlin shelves plan to sell Liesure Cargo

Air Berlin, Europe’s third-largest discount carrier said it has shelved plans to sell its standalone cargo unit - Leisure Cargo - after failing to attract a bid that matched the company’s own valuation and said it is reviewing an order for Boeing’s 787s. S7 Airlines, Air Berlin and Austria’s Niki are entering into a broad codesharing alliance, ending S7’s bid for Austrian.
