Lufthansa joins MSC in bid for Italian airline

Mediterranean Shipping Co. plans to own a controlling stake in new Italian flag carrier ITA Airways in a deal valued somewhere around US$1.4 billion, which would include German airline Lufthansa. Lufthansa would act as an industrial partner and possibly consider up to 40 percent equity involvement, but some analysts think it is unlikely to make an immediate investment. Alitalia and Royal Jordanian enter into a codeshare agreement

Etihad, Italy’s Parma Airport sign agreement to develop cargo services

Etihad Airways and Parma’a Giuseppe Verdi Airport have signed an agreement to develop cargo traffic at the airport of the central Italian city. The exclusive agreement initially includes the establishment of a cargo transit centre at Parma Airport to receive cargo for forwarding to Milan Malpensa Airport for onward transport. Etihad Cargo rolls out new B777F on Milan-Bogotá route

Etihad Cargo’s new B777 freighter has commenced operations on the Milan Malpensa-Bogotá route following the addition of the new aircraft to the fleet at the end of February 2016 which takes Etihad Cargo’s dedicated freighter fleet to a total of 11 aircraft. Alitalia to end deal with Air France-KLM in 2017

Italy's Alitalia announced it will not renew its partnership and joint venture agreements with Air France-KLM when the deal expires in 2017. The partnership, writes Radiocor press agency, concerns the passenger services of the airlines between France, Italy and the Netherlands, along with marketing, the sale and distribution of Alitalia's cargo belly services operated by Air France-KLM.
