Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) announced today its tonnage throughput for September 2009 was 47,182 tonnes, down 12 per cent compared with the same month last year. Schipol launches ‘scan street’
A new air cargo security project – Cargo Checkpoint - has been launched at Amsterdam Schiphol airport in the Netherlands. It uses a variety of systems to check cargo containers as they are driven through a so-called "scan street'' on trailers at a speed of 10 km an hour. EC postpones emissions standard until 2010
The European Commission (EC) has delayed, for the second time, the formal announcement of its baseline aviation sector CO2 emissions standard until mid-2010, Bloomberg reported. The EC had originally set a 2 August 2009 deadline for publishing a CO2 baseline necessary for its emissions cap for flights into and out of the EU and its related Emissions Trading Scheme, both which are scheduled to come into effect in 2012. IATA growth not quite as good as it seems
The latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) figures for air cargo show a decline of 9.6 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) in August compared to declines of 11.3 per cent in July and 16.5 per cent in June. But that improving trend is not quite as good as it seems. Bush Airport aims to be perishables hub
Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport has developed a new air cargo facility with the intention of establishing Houston as a major hub for temperatureand time-sensitive air cargo, challenging the established perishable hubs of Los Angeles and Miami. Abu Dhabi reports further cargo growth
Like neighbouring Dubai, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has reported ongoing growth in cargo and passenger movements with a 6.2 per cent increase in cargo volumes in August, year-onyear and a 12.4 percent rise in aircraft movements.
