The European Commission (EC) has delayed, for the second time, the formal announcement of its baseline aviation sector CO2 emissions standard until mid-2010, Bloomberg reported. The EC had originally set a 2 August 2009 deadline for publishing a CO2 baseline necessary for its emissions cap for flights into and out of the EU and its related Emissions Trading Scheme, both which are scheduled to come into effect in 2012. Etihad Crystal Cargo will roll out its new Xpress2D express-to-door delivery service to customers in Asia and the Middle East by the end of the year. IATA growth not quite as good as it seems
The latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) figures for air cargo show a decline of 9.6 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) in August compared to declines of 11.3 per cent in July and 16.5 per cent in June. But that improving trend is not quite as good as it seems. FedEx Express takes delivery of first 777 Freighter
FedEx Express has taken delivery of its first of 15 Boeing 777 Freighters it has on order with at least four of these serving Asia to US routes by April 2010. Monopoly for China Post from 1 October
China’s new rules for the domestic express letter and parcel delivery came into effect on 1 October which give state-owned China Post a monopoly in specific areas. The new Postal Law gives exclusivity to China Post’s Express Mail Delivery (EMS) unit for intra-city express delivery of letters and parcels under 50 grams and inter-city delivery of items under 100 grams. Double digit hi-tech growth for TNT
Express integrator TNT has announced that its hi-tech sector business achieved a double digit growth in Asia (year to date).
