DHL Express, has announced that its US$3.7 million hub in Jordan is now fully operational, Al-Bawaba News reported. The new facility combines a state-of-the-art airside operation with the hub and transit point. The Hub services all of DHL's road activity from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) through to the Levant, North Africa, and Europe. Leading Czech logistics company CS Cargo has bought CS Express, one of the three largest Czech express delivery providers, CTK Business News reported. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed. The companies signed an agreement on a gradual increase of CS Cargo's stake in CS Express to 100 per cent. UPS ups rates by average 4.9%
US-based freight forwarder UPS will increase its domestic and ex-US freight costs between six and seven per cent from January next year. The general rate increase for packages will average around 5.9 per cent for 2009. Packages bound for destinations outside the US will have an average increase of 4.9 per cent. TNT reported a 32.3 per cent drop in third-quarter net profit to €113 million (US$142.5 million), with its Express unit's EBIT declining 23.8 per cent to €99 million. Overall revenue grew just 1.5 per cent to €2.69 billion while Express revenue rose 2.3 per cent to €1.66 billion.
