The country’s civil aviation sector continued to grow in terms of cargo movements with the total volume of cargo moved through the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) located outside Colombo, increased by 4.1 per cent to 192,371 tonnes. Precision to convert B757-200 for VX Capital
Precision Aircraft Solutions has been contracted to begin a B757 passenger-to-freighter conversion for San Francisco-based Vx Capital Partners. The privately owned leasing company, which specialises in commercial aircraft and engines, tapped Precision earlier this month to assist with capitalising on the thriving market. AEI announces B737- 800SF launch customer
Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) has announced that GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) will be the launch customer for the AEI B737-800SF programme. GECAS plans to convert up to 20 of its Boeing 737-800NG passenger aircraft to freighters. SkyLease Cargo applies for HK rights
North Carolina-based SkyLease Cargo has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for exemption authority to operate scheduled cargo (property and mail) flights between the US and Hong Kong via intermediate points and beyond to points in third countries. The carrier said it intends to operate a twice weekly service from Miami International to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok via Tokyo Narita and returning via Anchorage Ted Stevens. ACMG: Market needs 125 new freighters per year
Demand for freighter aircraft continues to trend higher, according to a newly-released forecast issued by the Air Cargo Management Group (ACMG).
