AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has continued its strong operating performance with tonnage up 16 per cent in the first five months of 2015. In the January-May period, the airline transported 180,605 tonnes across its global route network linking Europe, Asia and the US via Russia. Virgin Atlantic Cargo teamed up with motorsport freight forwarding specialists first-air to organise delivery of two Chevrolet Corvette CR.7 cars from Chicago to London on their journey to Le Mans in France, where Corvette Racing is bidding to win the 83rd running of the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race. The Volga-Dnepr Group, a world leader in transportation of unique, oversize and heavy cargo, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further the group’s fleet expansion with 20 additional B747-8 Freighters, valued at US$7.4 billion at list prices. The Brazilian city of Natal has been a new destination in the Lufthansa Cargo network since 7 June. Lufthansa’s cargo arm now flies to the ‘City of the Sun’ every Sunday. Airbus, Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) and Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace) have signed agreements for a collaboration to launch the A320/A321 passenger-tofreighter (P2F) conversion programme.
