China PMI shows stabilising economy, but risk of decline
The Caixin Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in China stood at 50.1 in September of 2016 up only fractionally from the 50.0 it registered in August and in line with market consensus. It was the third straight month of expansion as output and new orders went up marginally while new export orders stabilised. American Airlines Cargo to become first US-based CEIV carrier
American Airlines Cargo has signed with The International Air Transportation Association (IATA) to obtain CEIV certification for the handling of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products targeted at supply chain participants. Cargolux introduces a new direct weekly flight from Luxembourg to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico from 2 October bringing the number of weekly services it operates between Europe and Puerto Rico to five. ‘Father of the 747’, Joe Sutter dies aged 95
Joe Sutter, the chief engineer of the legendary Boeing 747, died on Tuesday aged 95. Responsible for leading Boeing’s engineering team on the B747-100 in the mid-1960s, Sutter spent four decades working for the aircraft manufacturer on a number of projects including the Dash 80, 707 and 737 aircraft, but none as iconic as the ‘Jumbo Jet’.
