Virgin Australia shareholders become strange bedfellows
Chinese companies have upped their stake in Virgin Australia Holdings as a second mainland conglomerate bought a stake in the carrier. The Nanshan Group will buy about 20 per cent of Australia’s second-largest airline from Air New Zealand, the Auckland-based carrier said in a statement recently. World’s largest freighter gets helping hand from Freightworks to Abu Dhabi
The world’s largest cargo plane, the Antonov An-225 Mriya (AN-225), took its first voyage from Ukraine to Abu Dhabi carrying a shipment handled by Freightworks, the WACO System member for the UAE. The six-engine, 600-tonne aircraft, which has twice the wing area of a B747, was transporting a compressor skid and associated system equipment. Cargolux Airlines International has changed the routing of its flower flights from South America to the Netherlands and flies these services directly to Amsterdam instead of Maastricht. The airline noted that this significantly enhances its service offering and strengthens its commitment to its customers in this product segment.
