American Airlines (AA) is targeting higher-yield traffic by increasing the weight limit for its small package shipments. The ceiling for its Priority Parcel Service (PPS) has gone up from 70 pounds (31.8 kilograms) to 100 pounds. Brazilian-based TAM has received a Boeing 777-300ER, the second of eight total aircraft of this model acquired by the company. TAM is operating the route between Sao Paulo and Frankfurt, Germany, with this new aircraft, which it is currently operating six days per week. After returning two MD-11s, TAM's fleet now has 123 aircraft, 117 Airbus models (17 A319s, 81 A320s, 3 A321s, 14 A330s and 2 A340s), 2 B777-300ERs, 3 B767-300s and one MD-11. Delta to fiddle with Boeing orders following NW integration
Delta Air Lines, which bought Northwest Airlines in October, plans to make major changes to aircraft orders both had previously placed with Boeing, according to The Wall Street Journal. A special 'hook' system designed by Volga-Dnepr Airlines' technical experts to secure heavy, single pieces of air cargo for transportation has been used successfully to deliver a 89 tonne hydro turbine motor wheel from Russia to Kyrgyzstan. UAE and Qatar sign air services MOU
The UAE and Qatar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to increase the number of flights between the two countries. Under the MoU, FlyDubai was appointed as a UAE national carrier along with Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia and RAK Air, while Qatar Airways was appointed Qatar's national carrier. Maximus flying humanitarian aid to Sudan
Maximus Air Cargo has been commissioned to fly humanitarian aid to conflict-ridden Sudan. The Abu Dhabi-headquartered heavy lifter will carry about 4,000 tonnes of relief supplies from Khartoum over the next six months, including food, shelters, medicine and other relief supplies.
