Logistics elevates Panalpina’s Q1 profit
International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina increased its operating result and profit in the first quarter of 2015. Consolidated profit increased 10 per cent to CHF 19.6 million while EBIT increased 3 per cent (adjusted at constant currency rates: +12 per cent) to CHF 25.3 million, helped by a positive quarter in logistics. Emirates SkyCargo is set to expand its US cargo network to 11 destinations, when the airline launches a daily service to Orlando, Florida from 1st September 2015. Swiss WorldCargo to test drone deliveries
Drones will soon be used to deliver packages in Switzerland as part of a pilot project by Swiss Post. Tests are already underway in the US in a collaboration with Swiss WorldCargo, using drones by California manufacturer Matternet, a firm primarily focused on developing airborne options for health care in developing countries. Europe subjected to 3 cargo thefts daily, says TAPA
There was an average of three major cargo crimes a day targeting high value, theft-attractive products in the supply chain in Europe in 2014 with an average loss of €205,624, according to the Transported Asset Protection Association’s (TAPA) 2014 Incident Information Service (IIS) Annual Report for the EMEA region.
