Panalpina to acquire specialised perishables freight forwarder
Panalpina has announced it will acquire a majority stake in Airflo, a company based in Kenya and the Netherlands specialised in the export handling of flowers and vegetables. Airflo is part of Dutch Flower Group (DFG), a major flower and plant trader. The acquisition reflects Panalpina’s continued expansion in Africa and its increasing focus on the perishables business. TAPA highlights rising truck cargo crime
The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA), has highlighted a worrying trend as cargo crime climbed a further 10.6 per cent in the third quarter in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The Association's Incident Information Service (IIS) recorded 238 cargo crime incidents in the three months to 30 September 2015 with TAPA noting that cargo crime is "massively" under-reported for a variety of reasons.
