Virgin Atlantic Cargo has added Detroit to its list of daily flights to and from London Heathrow Airport. Airfreight yields continue to drop
WorldACD reported global airfreight volume in April increased by 3.3 per cent year-over-year (YoY), slightly lower than the growth in Q1, with the origin Europe (4.1 per cent) and the destination North America (12.6 per cent) as the best performing areas. Yields continued to drop: measured in USD, they have now lost almost 11 per cent of their early 2014-values. TNT opens new air route to Malta
TNT has launched a new air route between its main European air hub in Liege and Malta. The flight will run five times a week on a B737-400 aircraft, with a stopover in Marseilles on both outbound and inbound journeys. The flight arrives at Malta International Airport in the morning and departs in the evening, allowing for afternoon pickup in Malta and next day delivery to all of Europe. The Irish parliament gave International Consolidated Airlines' (IAG) bid for Aer Lingus the final go-ahead. Irish MPs voted by 74 votes to 51 in favour of the deal, according to local media reports. The vote comes after the Irish government agreed to sell its 25 per cent in Aer Lingus to IAG earlier this week, saying that IAG had made "a number of extremely important changes" to its initial offer.
