Cargo volumes at Sri Lanka’s main Bandaranaike International Airport have reached an all-time high in December 2009, topping a previous record in 2006, according to state-run carrier Sri Lankan Airlines, which operates the airport’s only cargo terminal. Sri Lankan said that a total of 23 airlines had carried 16,070 tonnes of cargo in 1,213 flights, topping a March 2006 high of 16,033 tonnes. Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) has announced it handled 51,380 tonnes of cargo in October, down 3 per cent year-on-year. Export cargo registered 36,093 tonnes, a decline of 3 per cent against same period last year. Import cargo volume for October was 14,930 tonnes, recording a decrease of 4 per cent from last year. Swissport signs multistation deal with Aer Lingus
Swissport International has announced it has concluded a comprehensive partnership with Aer Lingus in which the global ground handler will be named “preferred partner†at ten Aer Lingus stations in Europe over the next few weeks. Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) announced today its tonnage throughput for November 2009 was 56,866 tonnes, registering a growth of 18 per cent compared with the same month last year.
