Ethiopian cargo terminal set for operation by April ‘17
Ethiopian Airlines Cargo Terminal, which is under construction currently, has reached 82 per cent completion and it is scheduled to be operation by April 2017, the African carrier said. The first phase of the Addis Ababa terminal cost around US$150 million, according to a report by Ethiopian News Agency. The terminal will have an capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of cargo including facilities for perishable goods. The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has announced its new secretary general, will be Vladimir Zubkov, replacing Doug Brittin, who retires at the end of the year. In September 2016, Asia-Pacific and Middle East air freight grew, despite global trade growth remaining weak, according to the latest statistics from the Airports Council International (ACI). In September 2016 Asia-Pacific generated robust growth at +6.7 per cent whereas the Middle East increased at +3.1 per cent. Etihad moves 72 high-value racehorses from UK to Kuwait
Etihad Cargo has successfully shipped more than 70 elite racehorses from England to Kuwait after the European racing season. In all, 72 racehorses – worth a combined £36 million (US $45 million) – were transported from London Stansted Airport to Kuwait City, where they will spend the winter months training and racing in the temperate Middle Eastern climate. PACTL sets new cargo handling record in October
Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) - the largest provider of air cargo handling services at Shanghai Pudong airport - achieved the highest monthly tonnage in the company’s history, handling153,607 tonnes in October, featuring a volume growth of 8.9 per cent year-on-year.
