China’s Uni-Top Airlineshas taken delivery of its first A300-600 freighter, following a passenger to freighter conversion with EADS Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EADS EFW) in Dresden, Germany. The first freighter, with a payload capacity of 48 tonnes, will be deployed on flights from Shanghai Pudong to Seoul Incheon, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Osaka Kansai. AEI Delivers 3rd B737-400SF to Cargoair
Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) announced that it has delivered the third B737-400SF 11 pallet position to Sofia, Bulgaria based Cargoair. The aircraft, built in 1990 is a high gross weight B737-400 with only 30,000 cycles. Cargoair will operate the aircraft under a long-term contract for the European integrator, DHL. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that growth continued to slow in May. Compared to May 2014, growth in freight tonne kilometers (FTK) was 2.1 per cent, the slowest rate this year and outpaced by a capacity expansion of 4.3 per cent. AEI announces B737-800SF launch customer
Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) has announced that GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) will be the launch customer for the AEI B737-800SF programme. GECAS plans to convert up to 20 of its Boeing 737-800NG passenger aircraft to freighters. The first aircraft is scheduled for conversion starting in 2016 and will achieve FAA supplemental type certification (STC) in 2017.
