DWC sees rise in cargo volumes
Cargo volumes at Dubai World Central (DWC) have gone up in the first three months of 2012, according to the quarterly traffic report issued by Dubai Airports. The airport, in its second full year of operation, saw cargo volumes of 50,062 tonnes in the first quarter of the year, compared to 10,381 tonnes in the first three months of 2011. Dubai Int’l reports marginal rise in March
March was a good month for Dubai International, the fourth busiest hub for passengers and freight in the world. According to the monthly traffic report for March issued by Dubai Airports, the airport saw double-digit growth for the third consecutive month. The airport handled 186,417 tonnes of cargo in March 2012 compared to 185,921 tonnes in March 2011, a rise of 0.3 per cent. Cargo volumes slip slightly at Hong Kong
Cargo volumes through Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) slipped 0.4 per cent year-over-year in March, to 368,000 tonnes, despite a 5.2 per cent rise in overall aircraft movements which rose substantially by 28 per cent over a month earlier. BAA Sells Edinburgh Airport for $1.3 Billion
Airport operator BAA Ltd. has agreed to sell Edinburgh airport to Global Infrastructure Partners for 807 million pounds (US$1.3 billion) following an order by the Competition Commission, the UK’s antitrust watchdog, that BAA dispose of either its Edinburgh or Glasgow airport. Singapore Changi sees stable Q1 cargo volumes
Singapore Changi Airport saw air freight movements decline 1.8 per cent year-on-year to 163,000 tonnes during the month of March while passenger movements surged to 4.28 million passengers, up a full 15 per cent over the same month a year earlier.
