IAG Cargo will begin cargo services with its new B787-9 Dreamliner this October, five times weekly on the London Heathrow-Delhi route. Brussels Airlines switches out ECS for ALG
Europe’s Brussels Airlines Cargo has appointed Air Logistics Group (ALG) as its new global GSSA with effect from 1 September, replacing European Cargo Services (ECS). The airline says that last year, its cargo traffic grew 34 per cent on north Atlantic routes and in the past five years the cargo division has seen double digit growth network-wide. Freight volumes stable at Lufthansa Cargo
In the first six months of this year, Lufthansa Cargo carried 811,000 tonnes of freight and post. This is a 0.5 per cent increase over the same period the previous year and means the cargo carrier is holding its own in a challenging market environment, the it said, pointing to “flexible supply management” as being a key strategy. Emirates launches second daily to Seattle
Emirates has announced its second daily service from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The new service which began on 7 July and is operated by a B777-200LR supplements the current B777-300ER flight. The additional service will allow Emirates SkyCargo to carry an additional 15 tonnes of cargo per trip including locally grown cherries, electrical equipment and machinery, as well as medical equipment and aircraft parts. Qatar to go double-daily Doha-Manila
Qatar Airways will be adding six extra flights per week between Doha and Manila starting from 26 October following an expanded Air Service Agreement signed between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Philippines. The Doha-based carrier is currently flying eight flights per week to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.
