Singapore Airlines (SIA), which has 19 A380s in its fleet, has decided not to extend the lease contract for its first A380 which was the first of five A380s delivered from 2007. Airbus delivers record aircraft in 2015, breaks even on A380
Airbus has exceeded its targets for 2015, achieving a new record of 635 aircraft deliveries for 85 customers of which 10 are new. These deliveries comprise: 491 A320 Family aircraft; 103 A330s; 27 A380s; and 14 A350 XWBs. This production achievement means that Airbus’ aircraft deliveries in 2015 were up for the 13th year in a row, surpassing the previous year-end delivery record of 629 aircraft – set in 2014. MAS to sell long-haul jets
Malaysia Airlines is set to sell off a number of widebody aircraft as it restructures its network and fleet, news website Flightglobal reported. Malaysia's national carrier has started marketing some of its B777-200ERs and A330-200 freighters to potential purchasers, Flightglobal said, citing industry sources familiar with the matter. Qatar Airways takes delivery of its first A380
Qatar Airways took delivery of its highly anticipated first A380. With 10 A380-800s on order, the carrier is preparing to take delivery of four of them before the end of this year. The airline will first introduce A380 services on one of its frequencies on the Doha-London route from October, followed by Paris Charles De Gaulle shortly thereafter. Qantas makes deep cuts and defers A380s
Plummeting profits and declining freight and passenger traffic will see Qantas Airways slash as many as 1750 jobs, sell aircraft and defer its order for four Airbus A380 superjumbos. Qantas announced plans earlier this week to cut about 500 management positions and confirmed it was considering a further 1,250 redundancies out of a company-wide total of more than 34,000.
