The ongoing anti-trust investigation into the air cargo industry has move to the next stage with Air France, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Martinair Holland N.V. and SAS Cargo Group A/S all pleading guilty and agreeing to pay criminal fines totaling US$504 million for participating in a multi-year conspiracy to fix prices for air cargo rates. AMERICAS: 787 powered on two weeks early
Boeing achieved full power-on for its first 787 two weeks ahead of schedule, a significant milestone as the company seeks to restore a reputation tarnished by a trio of delays to the aircraft's first flight. The power-on process started on June 12 and brings electrical power onto the airplane in stages. AMERICAS: Caribbean Air Cargo adds 3rd freighter service
Trinidad-based Caribbean Airlines has added a new "third" cargo service to Trinidad from Miami starting from mid-June. The new flight is in direct response to an increased demand for cargo airlift between Trinidad and the US, the company said. With the addition of this service, Caribbean Airlines Cargo now operates three services per week with leased wide bodied air-freighters, each with a capacity in excess of 40 tonnes. AMERICAS: Delta, Northwest reach tentative agreement
Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines pilots reached a tentative agreement recently on a joint contract, a major milestone in the carriers' planned merger.
