Asiana Airlines has completed an order for two 777-200ERs (Extended Range) aircraft valued at US$438 million at list prices. The South Korean airline holds rights to substitute the larger 777-300ER which features increased payload and range capability, if needed, in the future. Korean Air is eyeing opportunities to expand its market share in North America using Incheon as a gateway hub to China where it already serves 23 Chinese destinations. The carrier is also promoting Incheon as a gateway from the US to Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. Qantas Airways has announced it will operate a total of 47 flights between the US and Australia each week, after starting up new services between Los Angeles and Brisbane/Sydney at end-March and between Honolulu and Sydney from early-April.
