Cathay Pacific Airways is looking at a possible major revamp of its network and fleet than previously disclosed, according to a memo sent to employees last week by CEO Tony Tyler. Hong Kong: Hactl reports 3.3% drop in August volumes
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced recently that its air cargo tonnage throughput for August totalled 220,574 tonnes, representing a year-on-year dip of 3.3 per cent. Cumulative tonnage for January-August 2008 was just on 1.72 million tonnes, up 3.8 per cent against the same period last year. Cathay Pacific Airways recently held the groundbreaking for a massive new hub cargo terminal at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Evergreen International Airlines has won preliminary US approval for a new air cargo route to China. Evergreen plans to acquire two Boeing 747-400F freighters to operate six round-trip flights a week to Shanghai from New York’s John F. Taiwan’s top negotiator with Beijing expects a new round of talks between the two sides within the next two months aimed at introducing daily cross-Strait flights, the Wall Street Journal reported.
