Virgin Atlantic Cargo has added Detroit to its list of daily flights to and from London Heathrow Airport. Airfreight yields continue to drop
WorldACD reported global airfreight volume in April increased by 3.3 per cent year-over-year (YoY), slightly lower than the growth in Q1, with the origin Europe (4.1 per cent) and the destination North America (12.6 per cent) as the best performing areas. Drewry: Airfreight rates slip in March
Drewry’s East-West Air Freight Price Index slipped 2.3 points in March to a reading of 99.5, losing the gains achieved in February. The London-based research and advisory firm said: "A retreat in pricing was anticipated with load factors softening following factory closures over the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday period and from easing congestion in US West Coast ports dampening air freight demand." IATA: US and Asia Pacific lead revival of 5.4%
Freight tonne kilometres (FTK) in October have seen a year-on-year rise of 5.4 per cent because of improving economic conditions in the US and strong trade in Asia Pacific, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) airlines financial monitor.
