Virgin Atlantic adds Detroit

Virgin Atlantic Cargo has added Detroit to its list of daily flights to and from London Heathrow Airport. The daily A330 flight will offer more than 16 tons of capacity in both directions and the airline expects customers in the UK, Europe, India and South Africa that already use its daily Chicago services to welcome a second destination into the US Midwest air cargo market. Airfreight yields continue to drop

WorldACD reported global airfreight volume in April increased by 3.3 per cent year-over-year (YoY), slightly lower than the growth in Q1, with the origin Europe (4.1 per cent) and the destination North America (12.6 per cent) as the best performing areas. Allport reinforces airfreight team

Allport Cargo Services has hired Martin Brown and Sean Smith to strengthen the senior management team of its Airfreight Division, following the decision of David Ward to retire in June. Drewry: Airfreight rates slip in March

Drewry’s East-West Air Freight Price Index slipped 2.3 points in March to a reading of 99.5, losing the gains achieved in February. Plans submitted for Machester airport warehouse

IATA: US and Asia Pacific lead revival of 5.4%

Freight tonne kilometres (FTK) in October have seen a year-on-year rise of 5.4 per cent because of improving economic conditions in the US and strong trade in Asia Pacific, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) airlines financial monitor.
