Cargoitalia set to return to the skies
Cargoitalia – the Italian all-cargo airline being re-launched under the new ownership of ALIS – has taken delivery of the first of three MD11SF freighters, which has a 90 tonne payload and 3, 600 nm range. Decline slows, but no recovery in sight: IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released its international traffic data for April which shows air freight continuing at very weak levels. International cargo was down 21.7% in April compared to previous year levels. Japan Airlines Group (JAL) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd (Mitsui) have announced a new logistics business alliance. Under the partnership JAL will offer its air cargo services with Mitsui offering logistics solution services centering on sea freight. Kingfisher Airlines plans to lease out two of its five long-haul aircraft to Nigerian carrier Arik Air for two years from the third quarter, Dow Jones reported. Penang pushing for air cargo hub
Government officials from the Malaysian island of Penang have urged Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB) to push for federal government funding to build an integrated air cargo terminal to accommodate future air cargo growth on the island.
