Express integrator TNT has announced that its hi-tech sector business achieved a double digit growth in Asia (year to date). SINGAPORE: First quarterly loss in six years for SIA
Singapore Airlines has posted its fi rst quarterly loss since 2003, with a S$307.1 million (US$212.6 million) loss that compared to a S$358.6 million profit in the fiscal first quarter of 2008-09. The global economic downturn, swine flu and unfavorable fuel hedges dragged the carrier into the red. JAPAN: JAL cargo revenue plummets 56.2% in Q1
Hit by the dual impact of both the economic downturn and the outbreak of swine flu, Japan’s largest carrier Japan Airlines (JAL), reported a net loss of 99.04 billion yen (US$1.04 billion) in the three months ended 30 June. SATS profits even as aviation business down
Singapore Airports Terminal Services (SATS) has reported a 17 per cent rise in first quarter net profits, even though its aviation business has continued to flounder in line with the global economicdownturn. The ground-handling firm says that its net profit for the three months ended 30 June increased by S$5.9 million (US$4.1 million) to S$40.4 million, buoyed by a 44 per cent increase in group revenues to S$351.7 million. Decline slows, but no recovery in sight: IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released its international traffic data for April which shows air freight continuing at very weak levels. International cargo was down 21.7 per cent in Aprilcompared to previous year levels.
