FedEx forecasts record holiday volume
FedEx is expecting to move more than 290 million shipments between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, an 8.8 per cent increase in overall year-over-year peak seasonal volume. The season is expected to be bolstered by three volume spikes throughout December, occurring the first three Mondays of the month and each expected to surpass 20 million in volume. FedEx Corp. has launched FedEx Global Returns, a shipping solution designed to simplify the worldwide returns process. FedEx announces early retirement of aircraft
FedEx has announced it has immediately removed eight aircraft from its fleet including A310 and MD10 aircraft. It is also accelerating the retirement of 66 further MD10 and A310s but has not indicated a time-line for this. Analysts have estimated this will reduce FedEx's capacity by nearly seven per cent.
