Garuda signs LOI for 30 A350 XWB
Garuda Indonesia has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Airbus for the purchase of 30 A350 XWB aircraft. Garuda Indonesia plans to use the A350 XWB to develop its medium and long haul network, with the aircraft offering the ability to fly non-stop from Jakarta or Bali to Europe. Garuda increases Jakarta-Amsterdam frequency
Garuda Indonesia will reduce its flights between Jakarta and London Gatwick in favour of additional flights to Amsterdam. Operated on the B777-300ER, the airline will increase flight frequency of the Jakarta - Amsterdam route from five times to six times a week starting from 11 July 2015. Garuda Indonesia has ordered 50 B737 MAX 8s, valued at US$4.9 billion. Boeing said that the carrier will purchase 46 737 MAX 8s and convert existing orders for four 737-800s to 737 MAX 8s. This revitalisation programme is due to the end of the lease term for the airline’s existing 12-year-average B737-800NG aircraft.
