Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has won a three-year contract to provide full cargo handling services for Singapore Airlines Cargo at London Heathrow and at all of its UK regional locations. Cargo up in April at BAA airports despite ash closure
The British Airports Authority says that despite the disruption from Iceland's volcanic ash cloud which closed UK airspace for several days, cargo tonnage in April was up 6.2 per cent on last year reflecting what it said is the underlying strength of the air cargo business. Passenger traffic slumped by 22.7 per cent last month as a direct result of the ash cloud. Heathrow sees June cargo improvement
London Heathrow reported a drop in cargo traffic of 14.5 per cent in June from a year ago to 103,400 tonnes, an improvement on the 19.2 per cent drop in May. London Stansted, similarly reported a traffic drop of 14.8 per cent in June to 15,271 tonnes, a slight improvement on the 15.4 per cent decline in May.
