Passengers soar as cargo dwindles at HKG in 2022
Hong Kong’s cargo volume slumped 16.4 percent in 2022 no thanks to the impact of global economic uncertainties, geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions. New airport pact aims to boost GBA aviation
A new memorandum of understanding was officiated this week that aims to develop the aviation industry in the Greater Bay Area by leveraging the strengths of Hong Kong and Zhuhai airports and the bridge connecting the two cities and Macao (or the HZMB). Greater Bay Airlines snaps approval to fly on 104 routes
Hong Kong's Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) has granted startup Greater Bay Airlines a licence to operate scheduled commercial flights as travel demand in the city remains in the doldrums. The new airline is cleared to operate scheduled passenger and cargo journeys on 104 routes with unlimited frequencies to and from Hong Kong, the ATLA said in a statement on its website. Hong Kong air cargo up over 10 percent in November
Hong Kong International Airport's cargo throughput recorded a year-on-year increase of 10.1 percent to 478,000 tonnes in November as the airport handled 120,000 passengers and 14,875 flight movements during the month, marking increases of 48.1% and 18.4% respectively. The increase in cargo throughput in the month was mainly attributed to the 16.1% growth in transshipments, continuing the traditional peak period for air cargo.
