Air freight recovery strengthens, says IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced August 2014 data for global air freight markets showing continued robust growth in air cargo volumes. Measured by freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), volumes rose 5.1 per cent in August, compared to August 2013. Capacity grew at a slower pace of 3.4 per cent from the previous year. IATA: e-AWB adoption soars
The pace of e-AWB adoption has been steadily on the rise since 2014, according to IATA. August 2014 was the single fastest e-AWB growth in one month, with 2 per cent achieved globally. Adoption speed is now four times that of the same period last year, and this acceleration is felt across the board, with strong recent growth in Africa, Americas, Europe and North Asia. QA to implement paperless freight transactions
Qatar Airways Cargo and Qatar Customs have signed an MoU for the use of electronic air waybill (e-AWB). The document was signed by Qatar Airways chief officer cargo, Ulrich Ogiermann and Mohammed Ahmed Al Mohannadi, operations and risk analysis department manager of customs in the presence of senior officials from both companies.
