October cargo on the up, says IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released October data for global air freight markets showing that the strong performance of air cargo in recent months is continuing. Demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTK), rose 5.4 per cent in October compared to October 2013. This out-stripped capacity which grew by 4.4 per cent. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released figures showing a small improvement in air freight growth in October, with global freight tonne kilometers (FTK) up four per cent compared with October 2012, with growth in all regions except Africa. HK’s AAT volumes down only 3% in Oct
Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) has announced it handled 51,380 tonnes of cargo in October, down 3 per cent year-on-year. Export cargo registered 36,093 tonnes, a decline of 3 per cent against same period last year. Import cargo volume for October was 14,930 tonnes, recording a decrease of 4 per cent from last year. Trans-shipment cargo volume was 357 tonnes, down 2 per cent.
