Singapore Airlines, the world's most profitable carrier, has said it will slash passenger capacity by 11 per cent as the global recession continues to drag down air passenger and cargo demand. Singapore Airlines has posted a fiscal third-quarter net profit down 43 per cent amid significant fuel-hedging losses, shrinking demand for cargo and passenger travel. Delta aims to trim 2,000 staff
Delta Air Lines, which took over rival Northwest Airlines last year, said it expects about 2,000 staff to opt for early retirement as it aims to trim capacity by up to 8 per cent this year.
