A total of approximately 650,000 kg of perishable produce was air freighted by AfriAg SA—AfriAg's 40 per cent South African owned agri-logistics unit—for the first six-month period of 2014 from 1 January to 30 June, in what is typically the quietest half of the year for perishable airfreight. South Africa's Competition Commission has referred eight air cargo carriers to the Competition Tribunal for alleged collusive behaviour that took place over a ten-year period, from 1996 to 2006.
