Virgin Atlantic Cargo has added Detroit to its list of daily flights to and from London Heathrow Airport. Virgin Atlantic Cargo has awarded a cargo handing contract to dnata in Australia covering Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane airports. Under the terms of the new contract, dnata will handle cargo carried onboard Virgin Australia’s daily flights to and from Sydney and Brisbane and Los Angeles, and the airline’s three flights a week connecting Sydney and Abu Dhabi. Virgin Atlantic sees rising cargo yields
Rising demand for air cargo enabled Virgin Atlantic Cargo to push up yields in the first quarter with sales rising 36 per cent, driven by a 25 per cent increase in volumes, the company said. “The new aircraft, which will operate on many of Virgin Atlantic’s existing business routes worldwide, will fly to new destinations from London such as Beijing, Cancun and Vancouver. Richard Branson has called on the US government to deny British Airways’ request for greater commercial cooperation, including agreement on ticket schedules and prices, with American Airlines.
