The French navy has said it detected an echo that could emanate from the Airbus A330-200 crashed 1 June on its way from Rio de Janeiro to Paris . The French navy had been contributing to the debris search with several tools, including a submarine. The French accident investigation office, the BEA, has extended the search for wreckage to 25 May, with Airbus and Air France aiding in the financing of the effort. The goal is to try and locate debris that could shed more light on the sequence of events that led to the crash, including cockpit voice and flight data recorders.
