Shanghai’s PACTL continues growth track in Q1

Shanghai Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) has continued its growth path achieving two new records in the first quarter of 2016. Having processed 142,297 tonnes of air cargo, the company reached an increase of 6.8 per cent year-on-year in the month of March.

In total, PACTL’s cargo volumes grew by 1.5 per cent to 367,791 tonnes in the first three months of 2016. These were the strongest results in both the month of March and the first quarter of any year in the company’s history.

PACTL’s import cargo volumes increased by 1.4 per cent year-on-year to a total figure of 157,270 tonnes during the first three months. International imports rose by 1.9 per cent to 146,241 tonnes, while domestic imports decreased by 4.5 per cent to 11,029 tonnes.

The company’s export cargo volumes grew by 1.5 per cent to a figure of 210,521 tonnes. International exports showed a growth rate of 1.8 per cent reaching a total figure of 198,337 tonnes, while domestic exports declined by 2.6 per cent to 12,184 tonnes.

“In line with the strong overall performance of Shanghai Pudong International Airport, we managed to continue our growth path on a level similar to the previous year where we achieved a record result of nearly 1.6 million tonnes of air cargo.

“Following several investments in our infrastructure and the continuous enhancement of handling processes, we were even able to further increase our market share”, says Lutz Grzegorz, vice president of PACTL.

The company processed 49.2 per cent of the air cargo handled at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) in the first quarter of 2016, an increase of 0.4 per cent in comparison with the first quarter in 2015.
