Qatar Airways will add San Francisco (SFO) to its network starting 15 December, with four weekly flights operated by A350-900 aircraft and adding 60 tonnes of weekly belly hold capacity each way.

The addition of flights to San Francisco will also add a new route to the Qatar Airways Cargo network, bringing its total US destinations to 11.

The San Francisco (SFO) service will build onto the carrier’s current US destinations, which include Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), Philadelphia (PHL) and Washington, DC (IAD).

Qatar Airways group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said, “We are thrilled to welcome San Francisco as our newest destination, and our ninth current gateway in the US. As we navigate the crisis, we have made it a priority to not only reinstate our existing destinations and be the airline travellers can rely on, but to also grow our network and increase connectivity with new and relevant destinations.”

By mid-December, the carrier expects 55 weekly flights to nine US destinations with further connections to other local airports through its partnership with American Airlines and JetBlue.
