Abu Dhabi-based RoyalJet is making more space for cargo on passenger seats and finding ways too add more revenue as the charter operator deployed in-seat package stowage systems designed by HAECO on its Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
“In our drive to enhance the capabilities of our fleet during these challenging times we have been searching for ways to allow our customers to transport more precious cargo on their trips,” explained Rob DiCastri, Royal Jet CEO.
“Of the solutions we considered, HAECO Cabin Solutions’ all-in-one cargo solution and cargo bags provided the most payload and cargo volume, and was easily configurable to adapt to the available space, maximising cargo capacity while minimising cabin modification,” he explained.
Aircraft engineering and maintenance specialist HAECO provided the supplemental type certificate (STC) for the equipment and installation, with UAE’s civil aviation authority (GCAA) granting approval to operate the aircraft with both cargo and passengers
In November, Alaska Airlines flew nearly 30,000 pounds of cargo on a Boeing 737-900 passenger jet carrying cargo on seats fitted with HAECO container bags.
