HAECO, a leading global provider of aircraft engineering and maintenance services, has announced the extension of its line maintenance contract with Japan Airlines (JAL) through 2031. With JAL’s increased passenger and cargo flight operations in Hong Kong over the last few years, HAECO will continue to support its partner with a full suite of line maintenance services for its Boeing 777, 767, 787, 737, and 767F aircraft at the Hong Kong International Airport.
Under the extended agreement, HAECO will expand its service scope to include deep cleaning and scheduled maintenance tasks, on top of its existing services covering mechanic support, Certificate of Release to Service (CRS), pushback, and cabin cleaning. The addition of deep cleaning services is a strong testament of HAECO’s proven track record in delivering high-quality cabin support services, as JAL has been recognised as a Skytrax 5-Star Airline – the highest achievable rating in the World Airline Star Rating Assessment – for nine consecutive years.
Gerald Steinhoff, Chief Commercial Officer at HAECO, said: “We are proud to extend our long-standing line maintenance partnership with Japan Airlines, which has spanned more than a decade in Hong Kong. This renewed agreement reflects the trust JAL places in our team to consistently deliver safe, reliable and high-quality services. With a broader scope that now includes additional technical and cabin support solutions, we remain committed to helping JAL maintain operational excellence across its growing regional network.”
Takashi KOIMAI, Senior Vice President, Aircraft Maintenance Centre NARITA of JAL Engineering, said: “JAL and HAECO share a long-standing history of cooperation, and I am truly delighted that our new agreements for scheduled maintenance (SR Jobs) and Deep Cleaning have further strengthened our partnership. We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership and working closely together to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.”
Since 2013, HAECO has delivered line maintenance services for JAL’s fleet operations in Hong Kong. The partnership has also expanded across the Chinese Mainland, with HAECO supporting JAL in key cities including Beijing, Dalian, Shanghai Pudong and Tianjin. In 2025, HAECO became the first overseas MRO provider entrusted by JAL to perform advanced non-routine maintenance services at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, further strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two companies.
