Collins Aerospace is expanding a longstanding support agreement for Air China’s aircraft fleet, together with aircraft maintenance and engineering firm Ameco.

The move builds on an existing support agreement for avionics onboard Air China’s Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The group has signed a 10-year deal which will see Collins add further support on sensors, fire protection equipment and next-generation aircraft.

The contract involves a newly expanded ‘power by the hour’ programme and will be based on performance, Collins noted, with Air China receiving OEM quality repairs, parts and upgrades to ensure the safety and reliability of its fleet.

Air China currently has 473 Boeing aircraft and 388 Airbus planes to match according to Planespotters. The airline recently placed an order for 18 narrow-body jets with GECAS subsidiary AFS Investments, which included five A320-200N airplanes and 13 A321-200NX for delivery next year.
