Air cargo messaging solution finds way into Southeast Asia

October 13, 2021 by PLA Editor

SmartKargo has now embedded advanced encrypted messaging into its ecommerce shipping solution for free to its airline clients, including low-cost carrier Air Asia in Southeast Asia.

Air Asia, through its air freight unit Teleport, recently implemented the EDIfly messaging solution with its ground handling partners in Indonesia, Payload Asia learned.

SmartKargo said the platform facilitates exchanges for a growing number of partners in ground handling and warehouse management, airline trucking, forwarding, logistics, cargo community systems, and even governments.

In April, software provider CargoFlash teamed up with the Luxembourg-based developer Innovative Software SARL to enable free, encrypted messaging for its air cargo management solutions. Some of the airlines already using this free messaging include Garuda Indonesia and Raya Airways.

“EDIfly enables our airline customers like Air Asia to securely exchange operational messages with their logistics partners, which is so vital in the fulfillment of e-commerce transactions,” said Milind Tavshikar, CEO of SmartKargo. “SmartKargo is pleased to provide the advanced benefits of EDIfly SM messaging at no cost to customers of our e-commerce solution.”

SmartKargo explained that the implementation of EDIfly is simple because it relies on the same addresses already in use by legacy aviation messaging providers like SITA, ARINC and Cargo-Community-Systems, with instant proof of delivery through a digital signature.

“In addition to the significant cost reduction over alternative messaging methods, EDIfly provides AirAsia with the utmost in data security for our messaging, and it is based on IATA standards,” the airline noted.
